The wonderful Platform 1 organisation recently won a retired Pacer train carriage. Getting the carriage onsite wasn’t a trouble-free exercise: the first attempt had to be aborted at the last minute; on the second attempt, the lift went ahead at around 05:00 on a Sunday morning thanks to hours of work of a large team of engineers. However, the Pacer carriage is finally in place, and I visited a couple of weeks ago. Welcomed like an old friend and spent a happy couple of hours there. Here are a few photos, in which Gez and his team can be seen building a platform by the new carriage in readiness for their open day the following day.
