Pubs

I’m nostalgic for smoking in pubs: to me, it added to the atmosphere. Stupid, really, as I’ve never smoked myself, and it couldn’t be great for bar staff, who had no choice but to breathe in other people’s noxious chemicals. Thus, I think the smoking ban was a shame – in some ways. One notable advantage was people standing outside pubs having a smoke, who were usually happy to act as a subject in one of my photos.

The inside of a pub is a magical place (usually): the light’s often very flattering and, to me, pubs are places inherently conducive to contentment. Here are some of my pub photos, inside and out.
